Race Against Ace
At the Royal Academy of Marvellous Adventures (RAMA), the high-flying ‘ACE’ class conducts a life-changing experiment. Under the guidance of Professor Bristow, the students try to create the perfect human being. Billy Gronbeck, RAMA’s star pupil, wonders if the experiment is ethical. Should the class be tampering with human existence?
Billy’s life is already different from that of most of his peers. As a young carer for his father, he is selected to look after Ace, the class’s creation. Despite his best efforts to keep Ace a secret, Billy soon finds himself grappling with issues of trust, betrayal, and moral integrity. The experiment may have worked, but little thought has been given to the aftermath.
RACE AGAINST ACE deals with issues currently faced by many children such as friendships, bullying and risk-taking. The novel delves into the experience of being part of something that seems thrilling yet comes with its own set of consequences.
